What Keel is made of

Nine modules, each named for a part of the ship, in the order a book actually travels: plan the voyage, write the scenes, keep it honest, deliver the book. Pick a card — the viewer shows that piece of the system.

keel.helm — the writing room. A fast terminal app, login-locked and zero-CLI: the scene's contract above the prose, the editor wrapping at the printed measure, the whole spine one key away.

keel.yard — the planning table. The editors' section of keel.pub: your books and your role on each, the spine tree with honest lock-respecting edits, book design from trim size to drop caps, and the approval queue.

keel.davy — AI at every stage. Drafts against the scene's contract from a context recipe you can inspect line by line — pre-warmed in the background, so ^g starts instantly. Nothing lands until you accept it; every accepted span carries its provenance mark, and the meter shows every cent.

keel.gate — the review flow. Draft freely against any scene; when it's ready, ask for a pull request. The book admin lands canon from the yard's approval queue — and until then the scene is honestly a draft, never silently the book.

keel.store — revisions & locks. Strict revision control built for prose: exclusive checkout, immutable history, loud refusals instead of silent overwrites. Two writers can never trample each other's words.

keel.press — the book pipeline. plank markup → Typst → a print-ready PDF at a real trade trim on an exact 13.6pt baseline grid, with your chosen face, cover, contents style, and chapter openers — plus EPUB and DOCX, typeset like a real book from the first draft.

keel.plank — the prose markup. One sentence per line, semantic directives — @quote, @think, @place — that typeset themselves. Structural markup is emitted from the spine, never typed, and broken markup can't land a checkin.

keel.ledger — the story's memory. Facts, promises, and references extracted from canon prose, each on two clocks: when it became true in the world, and when the reader learned it. What later scenes must not contradict.

keel.loft — the world bible. Characters, locations, factions, and lore as first-class cards, plus the world calendar your story keeps time by — down to mythic-era flashbacks with honest precision.
